Kasun Tharaka Wickramasuriya is an Secretary of ISOC Sri Lanka chapter and working as a Consultant Project Officer at Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA).  As a Project Officer at ICTA, he mainly coordinates and manages ICT community development initiatives and eGovernment Capacity building projects. With the aim to build a digitally enabled country, he involves in different initiatives in government sector and community sector with the objective of providing strategic, technological & commercial foundation needed to encourage & promote use of all social media and emerging Information & Communication Technologies and develop an environment conductive to the achievement of the nation’s intellectual, cultural and social aspirations through ICT. He is also involving directly with policy development for Information Technology, community development and related Internet Governance activities to make Sri Lanka a Digitally inclusive country. As a Secretary of ISOC Sri Lanka chapter, he is playing active and major role to empower Sri Lankans to foster ethical and responsible use of Internet and other ICT technologies for Citizen Empowerment and making aware the general public in Internet Security, using Internet to foster social integration, peace, economic growth & poverty reduction. Moreover as a Secretary of ISOC Sri Lanka chapter he is involving with IoT Policy Development, capacity building on Internet Technologies, awareness programmes on content and disinformation on internet.

Kasun is an experienced project officer with Outstanding capabilities to liaise with people, excellent leadership and organizational skills, and experiences in multi-ethnic and multicultural environments. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and obtained bachelors degree of BSc. (Hons) in Information and Communication Technology (BSc ICT) from University of Colombo in 2009. As an academia his research areas were ICT for Community Empowerment, eGovernment, ICT for Development, ICT Capacity Building and ICT Policy Development. He has published four research publications under ICT related areas. As a professional, Kasun has worked for many organizations related to ICT sector and has 10+ years of working experiences in different areas of ICT.

He is very talented guy with outstanding capabilities in capacity building, community empowerment and internet governance. According to his competencies he got valuable opportunities to participate international conferences and training programmes in ICT sector such as APIGA 2017 in Seoul, South Korea, SAKURA Exchange Programme in Science in 2017 at Japan, ICTD 2012 in Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA.

In his spare time, he enjoys photographing and playing Badminton. Moreover, he is having excellent volunteering background in local and international activities.
